Teste: Second Conditional

1 If I ___ rich, I would travel the world.

Na second conditional usamos passado na condição, e com o verbo 'be' a forma padrão é 'were' para todas as pessoas. 'Am' criaria uma first conditional, que não combina com 'would travel'.

2 If she had more time, she ___ a new language.

A consequência da hipótese irreal leva 'would': 'would learn'. 'Will learn' pertence à first conditional e não combina com 'if she had'.

3 What ___ you do if you won the lottery?

'If you won' indica hipótese imaginária, então a pergunta usa 'would': 'What would you do?'. 'Will' exigiria 'if you win' (first conditional).

4 If we ___ in the countryside, our life would be quieter.

A condição irreal fica no passado simples: 'lived'. 'Would live' na parte do 'if' é erro típico — o 'would' só aparece na consequência.

5 He would be happier if he ___ so much.

A condição da second conditional vai para o passado, inclusive na negativa: 'didn't work'. 'Doesn't work' deixaria a frase no presente real, quebrando a hipótese.

6 If I were you, I ___ that car.

'If I were you' é a fórmula clássica de conselho e pede 'would' na sequência: 'wouldn't buy'. 'Won't buy' misturaria futuro real com hipótese irreal.

7 If they ___ the answer, they would tell us.

Com 'would tell' na consequência, a condição precisa estar no passado: 'knew'. 'Know' (presente) criaria uma mistura de tempos inadequada.

8 She ___ abroad if she spoke English fluently.

'If she spoke' mostra que é hipótese irreal, então a consequência usa 'would move'. 'Will move' só combinaria com 'if she speaks'.

9 If dogs ___ talk, what would they say?

Na second conditional, 'can' vira 'could' na condição irreal: 'if dogs could talk'. 'Can' descreveria uma capacidade real, o que não é o caso.

10 We would visit you more often if you ___ so far away.

A condição irreal negativa usa 'didn't live'. 'Wouldn't live' na oração do 'if' é o erro clássico de duplicar o 'would'.
