Bats: pronome relativo possessivo (B1)

Bats have a bad reputation in films, but they are extremely useful animals. A single small bat can eat thousands of insects in one night, including mosquitoes that carry diseases. In tropical regions, larger species pollinate flowers and spread the seeds of important trees. Their wings are actually thin skin stretched between very long fingers, so a bat ___ wings are damaged cannot hunt and usually dies. Many colonies are disappearing because caves are destroyed or visited by too many tourists. Protecting these dark, quiet places is now a serious environmental task.

Assinale a alternativa que completa corretamente a lacuna do texto.

  1. A) who
  2. B) which
  3. C) whose
  4. D) that
  5. E) who's
Ver gabarito comentado

Resposta correta: C

A lacuna vem imediatamente antes do substantivo "wings", indicando posse: as asas pertencem ao morcego. Nesse caso, o único pronome relativo possível é "whose", usado tanto para pessoas quanto para animais e coisas. "Which" e "that" funcionam como sujeito ou objeto da oração relativa, mas nunca antes de um substantivo possuído, e "who's" é apenas a contração de "who is".
