Lions: question tag em frase negativa (B1)

Everybody calls the lion the king of the jungle, although the animal does not live in jungles at all: it prefers open grassland. Another popular idea is also wrong. Lions do not usually hunt alone, ___? Most of the work is done by groups of females that cooperate, surround their prey and attack together, while the males defend the territory. A century ago there were around two hundred thousand lions in Africa; today fewer than twenty-five thousand remain, because their habitat has been divided by farms and roads.

Assinale a alternativa que completa corretamente a lacuna do texto.

  2. B) don't they
  3. C) are they
  4. D) did they
  5. E) aren't they
Ver gabarito comentado

Resposta correta: A

Quando a frase é negativa, a question tag é afirmativa e repete o mesmo auxiliar: "do not hunt" pede "do they". "Don't they" mantém a negação e por isso não pode acompanhar uma frase já negativa. "Are they" e "aren't they" usam o verbo "be", que não aparece na oração, e "did they" muda o tempo verbal do presente para o passado.
