No human activity has generated more confident advice than getting a small child to sleep. Bookshops carry shelves of it, each volume promising a method, and each method contradicting the one beside it. Parents are told to respond immediately, or to wait precisely seven minutes; to share a bed, or never to share a bed. What unites these books is not evidence but tone: the calm authority of somebody who has never met your particular baby. The research that does exist is modest and slightly deflating. Infants vary enormously, most improve with time regardless of technique, and the strongest predictor of parental despair is not the child's sleep but the parents' isolation. A neighbour willing to hold the baby for an hour probably outperforms every book on the shelf. That advice, unfortunately, does not sell.

Resposta correta: C

A tese está explícita em "What unites these books is not evidence but tone: the calm authority of somebody who has never met your particular baby". The research that does exist is modest". A neighbour willing to hold the baby for an hour probably outperforms every book".
