Interviewer: Recruitment campaigns keep describing teaching as a vocation. Does that help? Marta Alves: It helps the campaign. Vocation is a lovely word that costs nothing. The teachers leaving my school are not short of vocation; they are short of time, support and money, roughly in that order. Interviewer: So salary is the main issue? Alves: It is the easiest to measure, which is not the same thing. When I ask colleagues why they resigned, they mention the forty unanswered emails, the meetings that decide nothing, the sense of being blamed for outcomes they do not control. Pay them more and some will stay. Give them a timetable that includes thinking, and far more will. Interviewer: What would you change first? Alves: I would delete half the paperwork and dare anybody to notice.

Resposta correta: B

Alves ordena as causas ao dizer que os professores "are short of time, support and money, roughly in that order" e relativiza o salário ao afirmar que ele "is the easiest to measure, which is not the same thing". A alternativa sobre falta de vocação contraria diretamente a frase "The teachers leaving my school are not short of vocation". A alternativa sobre reuniões inverte o texto: o problema não é a ausência delas, e sim "the meetings that decide nothing".
