O reported speech serve para contar o que alguém disse sem usar aspas: 'She said (that) she was tired'. A regra de ouro é dar um passo para trás no tempo verbal e ajustar pronomes e expressões de tempo. Essencial para entender narrativas e entrevistas em provas.

A Ana me disse 'I love this band'. Como eu conto isso para você?
You say: Ana said that she loved that band. Present becomes past.
Você diz: a Ana disse que amava aquela banda. Presente vira passado.

Quando usar
- Contar o que alguém falou: "She said she was moving to Portugal."
- Relatar com a pessoa que ouviu: "He told me he didn't like the movie."
- Reportar algo que continua verdade (o passo atrás é opcional): "The teacher said the Earth goes around the Sun."
- Transformar mensagens e recados em narrativa: "Mom said she would be late."
Como formar
present simple vira past simple; will vira would; can vira could
'I can help' virou: She said she could help. — 'Eu posso ajudar' virou: ela disse que podia ajudar.
said (that) / told + pessoa + (that)
He told us that the game was cancelled. — Ele nos disse que o jogo tinha sido cancelado.
I vira he/she; my vira his/her; we vira they
'I lost my wallet' virou: He said he had lost his wallet. — 'Perdi minha carteira' virou: ele disse que tinha perdido a carteira dele.
today vira that day; tomorrow vira the next day; here vira there
'I'll call you tomorrow' virou: She said she would call me the next day. — 'Te ligo amanhã' virou: ela disse que me ligaria no dia seguinte.
Os tropeços do Max

Com a pessoa logo depois, o verbo é tell (told me); com say seria 'she said to me', com o 'to'.
He told that he liked the city.
He said that he liked the city.
É o espelho do erro anterior: tell exige a pessoa (told ME); sem pessoa, use said.
Maria said she is tired yesterday.
Maria said she was tired.
Ao reportar uma fala do passado, o verbo dá um passo atrás: is vira was. Misturar 'is' com 'yesterday' entrega o erro.
