Computers: present perfect com yet (B1)

Every year the world produces more than fifty million tonnes of electronic waste. Old computers contain gold, copper and other valuable metals, but they also contain lead and mercury, which are extremely toxic. Rich countries have sent millions of broken machines to poor regions, where families burn the plastic to recover a few grams of metal. Some companies have already created repair programmes and recycling centres, and a few cities collect old devices for free. However, most governments have not solved the problem ___, and our old laptops continue to poison distant rivers.

  1. A) already
  2. B) still
  3. C) yet
  4. D) ever
  5. E) since
Ver gabarito comentado

Resposta correta: C

Em frases negativas no present perfect, "yet" aparece no fim da oração com o sentido de "ainda não", exatamente o que o texto expressa. "Already" é usado em frases afirmativas e vem antes do particípio, como no próprio texto ("have already created"). "Still" nesse sentido ocupa posição anterior ao auxiliar ("have still not solved"), e "since" exige um complemento de tempo depois dele.
