Farms: present perfect com since (B1)
A farm is not only a place where food is produced; it is also a landscape, a business and often a home. Some European families ___ the same land since the eighteenth century, and their grandchildren still live in the old house. Modern agriculture, however, has changed everything: enormous machines, satellite maps and chemical fertilisers allow one person to control hundreds of hectares. Production is much higher, but soil and rivers suffer. A growing number of farmers now mix old and new methods, rotating crops and planting trees between the fields to protect the ground.
