Assinale a alternativa que completa corretamente a lacuna do texto.

  1. A) was build
  2. B) were built
  3. C) has built
  4. D) was built
  5. E) is building
Ver gabarito comentado

Resposta correta: D

A máquina não realiza a ação, ela a recebe, e a data "in the late 1930s" situa o fato num passado concluído: usa-se a passiva do past simple, was/were + particípio. "Was build" está errado porque "build" é a forma base, não o particípio "built". "Were built" contraria a concordância com o sujeito singular "the first practical machine", e "has built" é voz ativa, sugerindo que a máquina construiu algo.
