This success created an unusual problem. Authorities cannot remove every crocodile, so they invested in education instead: signs, school visits and a campaign with a simple message about where to swim. Serious accidents have fallen, even though the number of reptiles has grown. Rangers say that the campaign works because it treats residents as adults. People do not need fear, they argue; they need accurate information.
