Parrots: conector de finalidade (B1)

Parrots are among the few animals that can copy human speech, and some of them clearly connect words with situations. In the wild they live in noisy groups and fly many kilometres every day, so a bird alone in a small cage quickly becomes stressed and starts pulling out its own feathers. Good owners give them toys, space and hours of company, and they cover the cage at night ___ the animal can rest properly. Illegal trade is still a serious problem, because thousands of chicks are taken from nests every year.

Para introduzir uma finalidade seguida de uma oração completa com sujeito e verbo modal, usa-se "so that". "So as" e "in order" só aparecem antes de infinitivo com "to" (so as to rest, in order to rest), nunca antes de "the animal can rest". "Although" expressaria contraste e "however" é advérbio conectivo, ambos incompatíveis com a relação de propósito entre cobrir a gaiola e permitir o descanso.
