Choosing a pet: primeira condicional (B1)

Choosing a pet is a decision for the next ten or fifteen years, not for a weekend. Before buying an animal, a family should think honestly about space, money and time. A dog needs company and long walks; if you ___ time for that, it is not a good choice. Cats are more independent, but they still need attention and a safe place. Rabbits and birds look easy, yet many of them suffer in small cages. Animal shelters are full of pets that were bought as presents and abandoned a few months later.

Na primeira condicional, a oração introduzida por "if" fica no present simple, mesmo quando o sentido é futuro; por isso a forma correta é "do not have". "Will not have" é o erro mais comum: o futuro com "will" não aparece depois de "if" nesse tipo de frase. "Would not have" pertence à segunda condicional e "did not have" colocaria a condição num passado incompatível com "it is not a good choice".
